Residents of the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have shown overwhelming enthusiasm for free copies of the newly launched campaign book “For The Records”, which chronicles the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) developmental achievements during its time in government.

The book, endorsed by former President John Dramani Mahama, highlights the party's contributions to the Constituency, spurring excitement and wide community engagement.

During a community event in Sowutuom, the NDC's flagbearer for the 2024 elections, emphasized the importance of the publication, which documents various infrastructure projects initiated by the NDC in the Constituency prior to handing over power in 2017.

He stressed that the book serves as a significant reminder of the party’s positive impact on the Constituency’s development.

Some key projects featured include the Grata D Shepherd Basic School at Awoshie Last Stop, new classroom blocks at Odorgonnor Model One and Two Basic Schools, and the Chantan Experimental Basic School at Tabora.

Major road projects such as the Awoshie-Pokuase highway and the Kwashieman-Sowutuom-Ofankor road were also highlighted.

The book details improvements in sanitation, including the renovation of a 10-seater toilet facility at Chantan Cluster of Schools and the construction of public toilets at Antie-Aku and the Anyaa Bus Terminal.

Additionally, civic infrastructure such as the Sowutuom Police Station, the Sowutuom Court Complex, and the Ga Central Municipal Office Complex are part of the NDC's achievements in the constituency.

“This book serves as tangible proof of our commitment and the positive impact of our work in this community,” Mahama stated.

In an impressive display of interest, over 2,000 copies of "For The Records", were distributed across various locations in the Constituency, including markets, lorry stations, churches, and local associations such as okada riders and landlords' groups.

Residents eagerly sought additional copies to better understand how the NDC contributed to their community’s development.

Mr Kofi Mensah, a local teacher, expressed his excitement, saying, “I want to understand how the NDC contributed to our community’s development.”

Meanwhile, market trader Akosua Owusu emphasized the importance of the book for accountability: “It’s crucial for us to have this information so we can hold our leaders accountable.”

The launch of the book featured former Finance Minister Seth Terkper, who encouraged NDC supporters to use the book as a tool to counter misinformation about the party's achievements. 

“This publication is essential for debunking claims that the NDC’s Green Book is inaccurate,” he noted.

NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore reiterated the party’s commitment to developing the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency. 

“This publication is not just a record; it is a reminder of the NDC’s dedication to the development of Anyaa Sowutuom,” he said.

Mr Raphael Apetorgbor, the book’s author and Deputy Communications Officer for the Constituency, expressed gratitude for the warm reception.

“The interest in this book demonstrates that our community values the progress we made during our time in office.

It is more than just a collection of projects; it is a record of our achievements,” he stated.

The book’s significance in fostering community engagement has also been echoed by other constituents, including local nurse Abena Asante and youth leader Samuel Adjei, who both voiced their eagerness to receive a copy
