The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has advised his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs against defending Kwabena Adu Boahene, the immediate past Director -General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), who has been accused of misappropriating GH₵49 million in state funds.

Mr Assafuah cautioned party members to refrain from shielding Adu Boahene if the allegations are proven true.

"If this is true, I am warning party persons, NPP persons— in the event that this is proven, please don’t go and defend it because we are building a nation," he stated.

The allegations were made by the Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, on Monday, March 24.

According to Dr. Ayine, Adu Boahene, who served as the Director General of the National Signals Bureau from 2017 to 2025, allegedly embezzled millions of dollars meant for a cyber defense project and diverted the funds into real estate investments in Accra and overseas.

He is also accused of laundering over $2 million through his real estate ventures.

The case has sparked widespread public interest, with calls for a thorough investigation and accountability.
