I shall govern as my own man if elected president – Bawumia
The Presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to lead Ghana with independence and innovation if elected in the 2024 general elections, dismissing speculation that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would influence his administration.
During a youth engagement in Accra on Sunday, 3 November 2024, Dr. Bawumia assured attendees that his vision centres on a tech-driven, resilient Ghana, committed to unlocking economic opportunities for the nation’s youth.
"I have my vision and priority," Dr. Bawumia asserted.
He revealed that: "Given the opportunity by you, the people of Ghana, to lead, I shall govern as my own man with guidance from God Almighty.”
He emphasised that his administration would focus on transforming Ghana into a self-sustaining economy grounded in digital technology and innovation.
Dr. Bawumia laid out his strategy for stimulating economic growth, leveraging digital tools, and creating a broad spectrum of job opportunities through industrial growth and a focus on food security.
“My vision is to build an inclusive, food self-sufficient, job-generating, data-driven, and system-based nation that will fully participate in the global digital revolution to solve our problems and usher in a golden age of benefits from our natural resources,” he explained.
Central to Dr. Bawumia’s agenda is his commitment to creating meaningful, sustainable employment opportunities for young Ghanaians, underscored by digitalization and entrepreneurship.
“I want to lead a nation that improves and unleashes the talents of our youth and offers good jobs with good pay and sustainable growth with macroeconomic discipline,” he said, urging a collaborative effort to tap into Ghana’s potential.
