I will do everything within my powers to ensure Bawumia becomes President – Napo tells Mamprugu Overlord
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured Naa Bohugu Abdulai Sheriga, the Overlord of Mamprugu, of his commitment to supporting NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the 2024 elections.
During a courtesy call on the Nayiri at his palace in Nalerigu, as part of his regional campaign tour, Dr. Prempeh—known as "Napo"—expressed confidence that the Ashanti Region stands united behind Dr. Bawumia's candidacy, which he believes will lead Ghana into a prosperous future.
In his visit to the Nayiri’s palace in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency, Dr. Prempeh sought blessings, prayers, and guidance from the King of Mamprugu, reaffirming his loyalty to Dr. Bawumia.
He highlighted the deep support for Bawumia in both the North East and Ashanti regions, reinforcing the NPP's commitment to fostering national unity and development.
The Nayiri, through his spokesperson, offered blessings to the NPP running mate.
The stool Secretary, on behalf of the Nayiri and the people of Mamprugu, also thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for consistently supporting "our son," Dr. Bawumia, as Vice President.
The Nayiri encouraged Dr. Prempeh and the NPP government to focus on bringing development to the newly established regions, especially the North East Region.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of Bawumia’s candidacy in strengthening the party’s base in the North East, highlighting the NPP's accomplishments, such as the Free SHS policy and the National Health Insurance Scheme.
He stressed that these programmes would be protected and expanded under an NPP-led government. Addressing a large rally in the region, Dr. Prempeh introduced the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidates, affirming that the NPP’s leadership represents Ghana’s commitment to religious and ethnic harmony.
He underscored the party’s historic alliance with the Northern Region and its Muslim communities, contrasting it with the NDC's approach, which he claimed only seeks votes without offering substantial support.
Finally, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidates for the North East Region addressed the rally, pledging to work tirelessly for the party's success in the upcoming elections.
