It is only politics that can allow poor people to talk; who born dog? Kennedy Agyepong flares up at Abronye

Tensions flared today, Monday, 28 April, 2025, in Berekum, Bono Region, as former Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong and the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, clashed publicly during the NPP’s Thank You Tour.
The heated exchange unfolded in front of party supporters, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a moment of reflection and unity following the 2024 elections.
Kwame Baffoe Abronye is reported to have thrown a veiled jab at Mr Agyapong, accusing him of actions that have undermined the party.
“Some people are noted for saying things that destroy the party and then later come and turn around and peace peace,” Abronye said, prompting visible agitation among sections of the crowd.
His remarks were widely interpreted as a direct attack on Mr Agyapong’s conduct during the party’s flagbearer race.
Unhappy with the comments, Mr Agyapong fired back sharply, dismissing Abronye’s authority with the remark, “Who born dog?”
He went further to state that it was only because of politics that “poor people can stand and talk” when he spoke.
Mr Kennedy Agyapong went further in an angry manner to state that if the NPP 'jokes', he would give them a showdown because no one was man enough in the NPP more than him.
In a scathing critique, Mr Agyapong blamed the regional executives, including Abronye, for the NPP’s poor performance in the Bono Region during the 2024 general election, noting the party had lost several seats to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
