A new report by the 100-Degree Media Team has revealed a clear lead for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in terms of support from New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) ahead of the party’s upcoming flagbearer contest.
According to the report, out of 87 NPP MPs surveyed:

10 MPs are backing Kennedy Agyapong,![]()
7 MPs support Bryan Acheampong (including the Abetifi MP himself),![]()
While 9 MPs remain undecided or have not publicly declared their allegiance.![]()
The figures suggest a commanding majority within the NPP parliamentary caucus is rallying behind Dr. Bawumia, reinforcing his front-runner status in the internal race to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia’s support from more than two-thirds of the MPs surveyed could prove crucial in influencing delegates and party grassroots, many of whom closely follow the endorsements of sitting lawmakers.
The 100-Degree Media analysis also highlights the growing traction of Kennedy Agyapong among a vocal minority of MPs, while Bryan Acheampong’s bloc — though smaller — signals a steady consolidation of support within specific circles of the party.
Political analysts say the 9 undecided MPs may hold sway in a tightly contested race, depending on how internal dynamics shift in the coming months.
As the NPP intensifies preparations for its national delegates conference, the endorsement patterns among MPs will continue to shape the tone, alliances, and strategies of the various flagbearer hopefuls.
