Ministry of Gender disburses 96th LEAP payments with increased support for beneficiaries

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has successfully completed the 96th disbursement of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme, offering renewed financial support to thousands of vulnerable individuals across the country.
The latest round of payments took place in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, where beneficiaries received increased cash amounts—a move that underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening social protection and improving the quality of life for the poor and marginalised.
Leading the disbursement was Sector Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who personally engaged with beneficiaries, listened to their concerns, and offered reassurances about the government's long-term commitment to social welfare.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Lartey stated, “This disbursement is not just about giving money—it’s about restoring dignity, reducing poverty, and enhancing the livelihoods of our people.
The LEAP programme continues to be one of our key tools in protecting the most vulnerable in our society.”
She emphasised that the Ministry remains steadfast in its mission to provide safety nets and economic relief for the aged, persons with disabilities, and extremely poor households.
Several beneficiaries who spoke with the media expressed their excitement and gratitude for the timely support.
Many noted that the increased payments will help them afford necessities, including food, medication, and school supplies for their children.
