NDC Chairman calls for calm and unity amid Kasoa leadership dispute
The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Stephen Ofosu Agyare, has appealed to party supporters and sympathisers to cease all public commentary regarding the recent misunderstanding within the party's leadership in Kasoa.
In a statement issued in response to the growing tensions, Mr Ofosu Agyare acknowledged the existence of differing opinions on the matter but emphasised the need for unity, reconciliation and the collective interest of the party.
According to him, the Council of Elders, the Regional Leadership and the National Leadership have all expressed concern about what they described as the unhealthy nature of discussions and commentary surrounding the issue.
While admitting that certain circumstances may have contributed to the current situation, the constituency chairman said he had decided to step back and reflect on the way forward to ensure that personal disagreements do not undermine the peace, harmony and progress of the party.
He, therefore, urged all supporters and sympathisers, regardless of their position on the matter, to refrain from making further comments or engaging in attacks against the Member of Parliament or any other individual involved.
"As party members, we must not allow this matter to divide our ranks. Our shared commitment to the ideals and success of our party must remain stronger than any differences that may arise," he stated.
Mr Ofosu Agyare expressed confidence that, through dialogue, mutual respect and understanding, the differences could be resolved amicably, enabling the party to move forward in unity and continue serving its members and the people.
The appeal comes at a time when party leaders are seeking to maintain cohesion and strengthen internal unity ahead of future political activities and engagements.
