NDC's '#Eagle Eyes' team worries about delays in ballot distribution to Volta, Bono and Ahafo
With Ghana's December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections just over two weeks away, ballot papers have begun arriving in various regions across the country.
The National Democratic Congress' #EAGLEEYES team, dedicated to ensuring transparency in the electoral process, has provided updates on the distribution and movement of the ballot materials from Accra.
According to the latest report, the Electoral Commission (EC) has successfully transported both Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers to the Ashanti, North East, Savannah, Oti, Upper East, Upper West, Central, Eastern, Western North, and Greater Accra regions.
However, in the Western and Bono East regions, only parliamentary ballot papers have been dispatched so far.
The EC is yet to deliver both Presidential and parliamentary ballot papers to four remaining regions: Northern, Bono, Volta, and Ahafo.
As the election approaches, the #EAGLEEYES team assures Ghanaians that they are equipped with monitoring tools to detect any irregularities, as they continue coordinating efforts nationwide to maintain the integrity of the voting process.
In recent weeks, the #EAGLEEYES team has reportedly identified issues with ballot printing and theft of biometric equipment under CCTV and security surveillance at the EC headquarters, raising calls for higher standards of accountability from the Commission.
Meanwhile, the team led Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT continues urging vigilance as election day approaches, encouraging citizens to vote for John Dramani Mahama, highlighting his 24-hour economy initiative, which promises well-paying jobs for Ghanaians.
Dr Boamah raised these concerns in a statement addressed to Classfmonline.com on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
