Eric Nartey Yeboah, the Second Vice Chairman for the Greater Accra Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on political parties to put aside partisan differences and unite in the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

Speaking on the issue on his X handle formerly known as Twitter, Mr. Yeboah stressed that rather than blaming each other for the proliferation of galamsey activities, political parties should work together to tackle the menace head-on.

He described illegal mining as a national crisis that requires collective and non-partisan efforts to protect the environment and secure the country’s future.

“It’s time we stop the blame game and recognize that galamsey is a national issue.

Political parties must unite to fight this menace to safeguard our environment and the well-being of future generations,” he stated.

Mr. Yeboah, also known as Chairman Dollar's call comes amid increasing public outcry over the environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, which has severely impacted water bodies and farmlands across Ghana.

He urged all stakeholders, including political leaders and Civil Society Organizations, to join forces in advocating for sustainable mining practices and stricter enforcement of mining regulations.
