NPP primary: Over 200 Asawase NPP delegates declare support for Kennedy Agyapong’s 2028 bid
More than 200 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asawase Constituency of the Ashanti Region have declared their support for Mr. Kennedy Agyapong as he pursues the party’s flagbearer slot ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The group, led by Kwabena Boateng, a polling station organiser at Parkoso Primary A, described the former Assin Central MP as the party’s “best hope” going into the next national polls.
Addressing a press conference in Asawase, Mr. Boateng praised Mr. Agyapong’s track record as a successful entrepreneur, arguing that his business experience positions him to drive job creation if elected to lead the party.
He further claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was unable to secure significant support for the NPP in the 2024 elections, pointing to poor polling results at the Kumasi Central Mosque.
Mr. Boateng urged other delegates across the constituency and the region to rally behind Kennedy Agyapong, insisting that he represents the party’s strongest chance of victory in 2028.
