Omane Boamah’s postings on Facebook did the magic for NDC in 2024 elections: Mahdi

The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a strategic communicator whose unique style significantly contributed to the party's success in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
Speaking during an interview on the Ghana Yensom Morning Show with Otafrigya Kaayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku on Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, August 6, 2025, Mahdi Jibril recalled that Dr. Boamah's social media presence—particularly his Facebook posts—played a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and driving the NDC's messaging during the last elections.
“His postings on Facebook did the magic for the NDC in the last elections,” Jibril stated, adding that while some senior party officials initially took issue with Dr. Boamah’s style of posting coded messages, his communication strategy ultimately proved effective.
According to Jibril, Dr. Boamah brought the same innovative communication approach to the Ministry of Defence after his appointment as Defence Minister, helping to enhance the military’s public engagement and information dissemination.
“You cannot take it away from him—he was a gem,” Jibril added solemnly.
“I don’t remember the last time I wept, but I shed tears yesterday. We have lost a great deal.”
Beyond politics, he remembered Dr. Boamah as a generous and compassionate figure, describing him as a breadwinner to many and a leader whose impact extended far beyond party lines.
