President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday, January 26, aboard Ghana’s presidential jet to participate in a high-level African Union (AU) institutional reforms retreat.

The retreat brings together African leaders to discuss and advance critical reforms aimed at strengthening the AU’s ability to tackle the continent’s most pressing challenges, including economic development, security, and governance.

President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to shaping continental policies and fostering unity, self-reliance, and effective governance among African nations.

His choice to travel on the presidential jet for this official engagement follows past public scrutiny over his use of his brother’s private jet for some domestic and international trips.

The decision reflects a response to concerns about transparency and the appropriateness of travel arrangements for the nation’s leader.

The retreat is expected to outline concrete measures to enhance the AU’s operational efficiency and ensure it delivers meaningful benefits to member states and their citizens
