President Mahama has debut Cabinet meeting, expresses confidence team’s ability to reset the country

President Mahama has expressed confidence in his cabinet ministers, meeting them for the first time since coming into power.
The cabinet meeting took place today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Golden Jubilee House, Accra.
According to the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the 19-member cabinet, chaired by President Mahama will meet regularly to discuss the policies of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the constitution demands.
He explained, “Today’s session was to introduce cabinet and set out the ground rules.”
He said the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, and the Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah brought the cabinet up to speed on security issues, describing Ghana as safe and having the might to counter external threats.
Mr Goosie Tanoh and the Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson also briefed the cabinet on the economy, and the 24hour economic policy proposed by the president.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu said despite inheriting an ailing economy, Dr Ato Forson’s briefing “shows we are on course for a smooth take off”.
He said President Mahama was highly confident his cabinet will help pilot the economy, ensuring recovery towards prosperity.
Furthermore, Felix Kwakye Ofosu underlined President Mahama will be on the floor of Parliament in few days’ time to give address on the current state of the economy.
This, he added, will be before the Economic Conference slated for March 3 and 4, where industry players and captains will gather to deliberate on issues “that can get us out of the economic mess”.
