The President today held a high-level meeting with the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General, and the Auditor-General to discuss new measures aimed at strengthening the enforcement of findings and recommendations contained in the Auditor-General’s Report.

The discussions focused on practical steps to ensure that audit infractions are dealt with more swiftly and decisively.

Among the key outcomes of the meeting was an agreement to designate special courts to handle cases arising from audit infractions — including the enforcement of surcharges and disallowances, as well as the prosecution of related criminal offences.

According to the Presidency, the initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to promote accountability, deter the misuse of public funds, and ensure the prompt recovery of monies owed to the State.

This marks a significant move toward reinforcing Ghana’s fiscal discipline framework and ensuring that public officers and entities comply with financial management laws.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, and the Auditor-General.

A statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, confirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that findings in audit reports translate into real consequences for financial misconduct.

“This initiative underscores the President’s determination to strengthen accountability and protect the public purse,” the statement said.
