Sammy Gyamfi dollar-sharing video:Minority suggests elite impunity on the part of Mahama

The Minority in Parliament has issued a strong condemnation of Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, following the circulation of a viral video in which he is seen handing out bundles of US dollars to Evangelist Patricia Oduro, popularly known as Agradaa.
At a press briefing led by Dr. Tia Abdul Kabiru Mahama, Member of Parliament for Walewale, the Minority described the act as a blatant display of financial recklessness and a betrayal of public trust—especially at a time when many Ghanaians are enduring severe economic hardship.
Dr. Mahama stated that the video not only contradicts the NDC's professed commitment to fiscal discipline and anti-corruption but also exposes a worrying culture of impunity and moral decay within the current administration.
“The actions of Mr. Gyamfi are not only inconsistent with the party's long-held values but also send a dangerous signal about the lack of accountability at the highest levels of government,” Dr. Mahama said.
The Minority expressed alarm at the public outrage sparked by the video, noting that many Ghanaians view it as an insult to those who are struggling to survive in the current economic climate.
In response, the Minority is demanding swift and decisive action, including:
Immediate disciplinary sanctions against Sammy Gyamfi for breaching the code of conduct and possibly violating financial regulations.
A full-scale investigation into the source of the US dollar bundles and the broader circumstances surrounding the incident.
A public apology from the President, acknowledging the offence caused by the incident and reassuring Ghanaians of the government's commitment to ethical leadership.
The Minority emphasised that anything short of these measures would only reinforce perceptions of elite impunity and deepen public mistrust in the NDC government.
