Vice President calls for stronger support for women and youth leadership
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting inclusion, leadership development and social progress during a meeting with the Resident Director of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Ghana (FES Ghana), Mr. Martin Guettler.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in areas such as women's empowerment, youth development and inclusive governance.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended FES Ghana for its longstanding contribution to improving livelihoods, promoting equity and creating opportunities for marginalized groups across the country.
She particularly praised the organisation's efforts in advancing women's leadership and encouraged it to expand training and mentorship programmes that equip women with the skills and confidence needed to participate more actively in governance and public life.
According to the Vice President, the passage of Ghana's Affirmative Action legislation marks an important milestone, but attention must now shift towards ensuring its effective implementation to achieve meaningful results.
The discussions also highlighted the critical importance of investing in Ghana's youth through leadership development, skills training and confidence-building initiatives.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that Ghana's youthful population presents both opportunities and challenges, making it imperative to equip young people with the tools needed to contribute positively to national development.
The Vice President and the FES Ghana delegation concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration in promoting inclusion, leadership development and sustainable social progress.
She reiterated that the government's doors remain open to partnerships that support these objectives and contribute to the country's long-term development agenda.
