Vice President calls for unity and sober reflection in wake of national tragedy

Vice President of the Republic, Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has urged Ghanaians to approach the nation’s recent tragedy with calm reflection rather than blame or political point-scoring.
Speaking after the burial of government officials and military officers who perished in the recent helicopter crash, the Vice President emphasised that the moment called for national introspection.
“This is not the time for distasteful gloating over misfortune or postulation,” she cautioned.
“It is a time of sober reflection; a time for ensuring that mishaps are avoided going forward.”
She further called on citizens to reflect on the divisions within society, questioning whether the “unhealthy barriers we consciously continue to build and maintain, which persistently divide us as a people, are worth the effort.”
Paying tribute to the fallen officials, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said: “This is the time to wish our colleagues who have perished in the line of duty peaceful rest.
It is the time to renew our pledge to work in ways that truly advance our country, as our colleagues have tried to do.”
