Year of roads: No show at Effiduase – NDC parl. aspirant

A Parliamentary aspirant on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Effiduase Asokore Constituency in the Ashanti Region has said the government’s declaration of the year of roads has not benefited his constituency.
According to Mr Christopher Osei Sarfo, there is no trace of the fruit of the declaration of the year of roads in the constituency, a known stronghold of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the year of the roads is a mirage because the people of Effiduase have not seen anything.
Mr Sarfo noted that roads in the constituency have not seen a facelift even though the government declared the year of roads a few years ago.
Mr Sarfo raised issues with the government’s declaration when he spoke in a one-on-one interview with the host of Ghana Yensom morning show Odeyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
He said his constituents are suffering trying to commute from one village to the other because of bad roads.
He cited the sorry state of the Effiduase station road as an example.
"The people of the area cannot boast of any good road despite their Member of Parliament being a member of the governing party," he said.
He added that the MP, Dr Nana Ayew, sits on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health as chairman while his constituents are battling with the lack of hospitals, power challenges and bad roads.
According to him, these are all signs of bad leadership on the part of the NPP.
He pledged to be the face of the constituency’s development agenda if elected.
"With the help of some friends from Finland, I am hopeful, if elected, we will bring some reprieve to the people of the area," he assured.
