Redeemer Tech triumphs at National AI for Good Robotics Challenge

My Redeemer School’s robotics team, Redeemer Tech at Sowutuom in the Greater Accra Region earned an impressive double victory at the AI for Good – Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition, with both its Senior and Junior Teams taking first place in their respective categories.
The event, held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Academic City University, brought together some of the most talented young robotics teams from across the country in a dynamic, high-stakes competition.
The national challenge was organized by The MakersPlace, under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations' AI for Good initiative.
The 2025 edition focused on disaster response, tasking teams with designing and programming robotic solutions that address real-world emergencies while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Redeemer Tech competed against strong contenders, including Adisadel College, Koforidua Secondary Technical School, and other top schools, ultimately impressing judges with their AI-powered robotics solutions.
Their projects featured intelligent automation designed for early disaster detection, search-and-rescue missions, and post-disaster logistics support—combining technical excellence with a deep sense of purpose.
“This year’s competition showcased the creativity and skill of students across Ghana.
The level of innovation we witnessed is truly inspiring,” said Douglas Ayitey, Founder & CEO of The MakersPlace, National Organizer of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition.
“We are proud to see young Ghanaians stepping up to solve global challenges with technology.”
As national champions, Redeemer Tech has qualified for the Global Grand Finale of the AI for Good Robotics Challenge, scheduled for May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, during the AI for Good Global Summit.
This international platform will bring together winning teams from around the world to showcase their solutions and engage with global experts in AI, robotics, and sustainability.
My Redeemer School’s success reflects a long-term investment in STEM education.
With robotics and coding introduced at the Grade 1 level five years ago, the school has built a strong foundation in applied technology and innovation.
The 2025 Ghana Edition of the Robotics for Good Challenge was open to all students and teams eager to apply their knowledge in AI and robotics to solve the pressing challenge of disaster response.
The event not only celebrated technical skills, but also emphasized collaboration, creativity, and real-world impact.
Congratulations to all participating teams for their dedication and ingenuity—and to Redeemer Tech for emerging as national winners. Ghana will be proudly represented on the global stage in Geneva!
