Transport Minister, Deputy visit NRSA, inspect Traffitech road enforcement system
The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, together with the Deputy Minister, Dorcass Affo-Toffey, has visited the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) and Traffitech-GH to assess progress on the country’s automated road traffic enforcement initiative.
During the visit, the officials were briefed on the operations of Traffitech-GH, an automated system developed by the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the NRSA and the Ministry of Transport.
The system is designed to enhance the enforcement of road traffic laws and improve road safety across the country by using cameras and sensors to automatically capture audio-visual evidence of motorists who violate traffic regulations.
Officials of the Ministry were given a first-hand demonstration of how the technology operates, as authorities intensify preparations for its nationwide rollout.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Ministry of Transport to strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders to improve compliance with road traffic regulations and ensure safer roads for all users in Ghana.
