2026 WCQ: Black Stars leave dazed Madagascar with 3:0

Coach Otto Addo called the Ghana v Madagascar match a “much, much difficult” one but his side successfully held the islanders down to a 3:0 victory in Morocco, Monday night, March 24, 2025.
The first two goals came in the 11th and 53rd minutes of the first half, all supplied by Thomas Partey, the Ghana Black Stars former captain. In the second half, Kudus Mohammed found the net, also, in the 58th minute.
The victory witnessed at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium, Morocco, gloriously followed Ghana decimating Chad 5:0 at the Accra (Ohene Gyan) Sports Stadium, Accra, on Friday, March 21.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers victories come as a welcome surprise to fans as the team performed abysmally during the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in 2024, denying the four-time champions participation.
Though there was a vehement call for Otto Addo to be dropped after the AFCON dreams were dashed, he was maintained and seems to be seeing a redemptive streak.
Group I positions:
- Ghana - 15 points
- Madagascar - 10 points
- Mali - 9 points
- Comoros - 9 points
- Central African Republic - 5 points
- Chad - 0 points
