Afcon 2021: Ayew appears before parliament’s youth and sports c’tee
Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew has appeared before Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee in charge of investigating the poor performance of the team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
He appeared before the Committee on Thursday, 23 June 2022 to answer questions with regards to the early exit of the team in the tournament in Cameroon.
Although he was summoned before the Committee in February 2022, the captain of the team was unable to make it, thus the postponement.
The Qatar-based Al Sadd player scored one out of the team’s 3 goals at the tournament.
The Black Stars exited the tournament at the group stages.
The team lost to Morocco and Comoros, earning a point only against Gabon in the tournament.
This was the first time the Black Stars had failed to progress to the next round of the Afcon since 2006.
