Black Galaxies fall 1-0 to South Africa in Dobsonville friendly
Ghana were unable to find a response as they fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat against South Africa in an international friendly played on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The training encounter was held at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, where Sipho Mbule’s 56th-minute strike proved decisive for Bafana Bafana.
The Black Galaxies pushed for an equaliser late in the game and came closest in the 85th minute, when a deflected cross forced South Africa goalkeeper Sipho Chaine into a sharp save, tipping the ball over the bar.
The victory gives South Africa a morale boost as they head to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana, on the other hand, will turn their attention to the African Nations Championship (CHAN), using the friendly as part of their build-up to the tournament.
