Black Queens qualify for 2026 WAFCON, whipping Egypt 4:0
The Black Queens of Ghana have qualified for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), beating Egypt in their final qualifier.
The showdown was at the Accra (Ohene Gyan) Sports Stadium, today, Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
After boycotting training sessions over unpaid bonuses, there were rumours that Coach Kim Lars Björkegren's girls would not show up for the game.
When D-Day came and the whistle went off, the Black Queens dominated the game.
However, they did not find the back of the net until the second half, when Doris Boaduwaa leveraged a goalkeeping error to open the scoring in the 52nd minute.
Three minutes later, she doubled down with another goal.
The 4:0 victory was made complete via fullback Comfort Yeboah's screamer, and a hat-trick from Doris.
Formation
Princess Marfo, Doris Boaduwaa led the attack, Evelyn Badu, Grace Asantewaa, Jennifer Cudjoe were in midfield. Captain Portia Boakye, Josephine Bonsu, Susan Ama Duah and Comfort Yeboah played at the back. Cynthia Findiib Konlan was maintained in the post, as Chantel Hlorkah operated behind the attackers.
Ghana returns to WAFCON after the team's bronze finish in the Morocco edition in 2024.
