Boxer Ernest 'Bahubali' Akushey passes at 32 after tough final fight

Boxer Ernest 'Bahubali' Akushey has died at 32.
The news followed days after his profound defeat at the hands of Jacob Dickson in a super middleweight bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra, on September 12, 2025. In what was to be a keen contest, Dickson saw dominance, clinching victory in the eighth round with a technical knockout (TKO).
Per James Town TV and Africabox Showup, Ernest became sick on Monday, September 22.
He was pronounced dead on Tuesday, September 23, around 2 AM.
Sources close to his family suspect he succumbed to internal injuries from his final fight.
An official autopsy is yet to be released.
The boxer's Bahubali nickname came from his brutal and entertaining style of performance reminiscent of a character of the same name in blockbuster Indian film.
The boxer came to prominence via James Town's Wadada Gym, and at one time held a 6-0-0 record.
