The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has officially refuted claims that it donated GHS12 million to the Black Stars while allegedly neglecting cocoa farmers.

In a statement released today, Thursday, February 26, 2026, the board described the claim as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis.”

COCOBOD reaffirmed its commitment to its core mandate, emphasising the prioritisation of cocoa farmers’ welfare.

This includes ensuring prompt payments for cocoa purchases, providing essential farming inputs, offering extension services, and maintaining long-term investments in the sector.

The board clarified that at no time have funds intended for cocoa farmers’ payments been diverted to support the national football team.

COCOBOD urged the public to disregard unverified reports and to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate and verified information.
