Carlos Queiroz denies reports of resignation as Black Stars head coach
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has firmly dismissed widespread reports claiming he has resigned from his position following Ghana's elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
Speculation regarding the Portuguese manager’s future intensified after he shared a social media post expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the national team during the tournament. Many observers and fans interpreted the message as a formal farewell, sparking rumors that he was stepping down despite a contract that runs until August.
However, Queiroz clarified his stance in a video circulating on social media after being questioned by a fan.
"I didn't resign. I sent a message of gratitude," Queiroz stated, putting an end to the speculation.
The Black Stars exited the 2026 World Cup in the Round of 32 after suffering a defeat to Colombia, having advanced as the third-placed team from the group stage.
Queiroz originally signed a short-term, four-month contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The agreement is scheduled to be reviewed by football officials following the team's overall performance at the tournament.
