Eezzy Group Foundation boosts team Ghana with GHS800k ahead of Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
Team Ghana has received a major boost in its preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games after the Eezzy Group Foundation donated GHS 800,000 to support the nation's campaign.
The sponsorship was unveiled at a colourful ceremony held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, where sports administrators, athletes, corporate executives and other stakeholders gathered under the theme, "Inspiring Champions for National Pride."
The timely financial support comes as Ghana's athletes intensify preparations for the Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2.
The funding is expected to strengthen the team's final phase of preparations by covering key areas such as training, equipment, logistics and athlete welfare, while easing the financial demands associated with competing on the international stage.
Beyond its immediate impact, the sponsorship reflects the growing contribution of the private sector to sports development in Ghana and reinforces calls for increased corporate investment to complement government support.
Ghana will be represented by a 40-member athlete contingent competing in nine sporting disciplines: Athletics (13), Boxing (10), Judo (2), Para Athletics (3), Para Powerlifting (1), Para Swimming (1), Swimming (4), Track Cycling (2) and Weightlifting (1).
Officials remain optimistic that the combination of seasoned athletes and rising talents will enable Team Ghana to challenge for medals and proudly fly the nation's flag in Glasgow.
Stakeholders at the launch commended the Eezzy Group Foundation for its commitment to Ghanaian sports, describing the gesture as a significant investment in the country's sporting future and an example worthy of emulation by other corporate organisations.
With less than a month to the opening ceremony, Team Ghana will now shift its attention to final preparations, inspired by the financial backing as the athletes aim to deliver outstanding performances and bring honour to the nation at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
