GFA assures UDS of support ahead of Sept's World Universities Soccer Championship in China

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended support to the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, as the reigning African Universities Soccer Champions prepare to represent Ghana at the World Universities Soccer Championship (WUSC) in China.
The competition takes place from September 17 to 28, 2025.
In 2024, UDS made history, winning the Africa Universities Soccer Championship in Lagos, Nigeria, qualifying for the WUSC competition. Thereafter, the university appealed for assistance from the GFA to aid readiness for a befitting representation of the country on the world stage.
On Thursday, August 28, GFA responded, with sets of training kits presented to UDS by the association's Chief Finance Officer, Collins Kwasi Dei, on behalf of GFA boss Kurt Simeon-Okraku, and the GFA Executive Council.
Michael Ansa, Head of the Accra Office of UDS, received the items on behalf of the tertiary institution.
GFA, also, offered UDS access to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, intended for facilitating the university's intensive training before their departure to China.
Furthermore, GFA underlined its commitment to seeing football excel at academic institutions, recognising UDS’ inspiring continental triumph, which, they noted, offered a grand proof of the vast talent and promise within Ghana's tertiary institutions for football.
