GFA holds thanksgiving service at Christ The King Anglican Church to celebrate Black Stars' World Cup qualification
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) had a special thanksgiving service at the Christ The King Anglican Church, Sakumono, Tema, Greater Accra Region.
The spiritual celebration on Sunday, October 26, 2025, came after the Black Stars’ qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, happening in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
The GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku recognised God's guidance for the Black Stars during the heated qualification campaign.
He thanked the clergy and the Christian community for their continuous prayers and support for the national teams.
On their part, the Christ The King Anglican Church leadership praised the GFA recognising the place of thanksgiving and prayer. They encouraged the association to consider that success was best maintained spiritually.

The service was a mix of praise hymns and words of encouragement. There were prayers for unity, and eventual victory as Ghana prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In attendance were GFA Chief of Staff Michael Osekre, Executive Council Members: Samuel Aboabire and Eugene Noel Nobel, Deputy General Secretary Ama Brobey-Williams, Chief Finance Officer Collins Dei, and Director of the GFA Technical Centre, Winifred Mawudeku, led by President Simeon-Okraku.
Apart from members of the football fraternity and passionate supporters, GHALCA Chairman John Ansah, Dreams FC President Jiji Mohammed Alifoe, and Vice President Prince Abdul Hamid were also present.
Amid the joyful occasion, President Simeon-Okraku took the opportunity to emphasise GFA's commitment to advancing Ghana football across all levels.

Ahead of the church thanksgiving service, the GFA was at the Imam Malik Hamburg Mosque in Maamobi, Friday, October 24, 2025, with similar intentions, marking an inclusive interfaith expression of gratitude.
