Jonas Adjetey made his competitive debut for VfL Wolfsburg after coming off the bench in their 2-2 Bundesliga draw against RB Leipzig.

The towering centre-back was introduced late in the game for Adam Daghim at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig, helping the Wolves steady their defence as they held on for a valuable away point.

Adjetey completed a winter move from FC Basel and had been training with the squad throughout the January break. Although he featured in a friendly during the winter period, he had to wait for his first official Bundesliga appearance, which finally came against Leipzig.

His introduction brought composure to a backline that had conceded just two minutes earlier, providing much-needed stability in the closing stages.

In the entertaining four-goal contest, Wolfsburg struck first through Mohamed Amoura, before Yan Diamonde equalised for Leipzig in the 70th minute. Mattias Svanberg restored the visitors’ advantage eight minutes later, but Brajan Grudastruck with two minutes left to rescue a point for the hosts.
