Liverpool star Diogo Jota dies in tragic car crash at 28
Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has tragically died in a car accident at the age of 28.
The fatal crash occurred in the Spanish province of Zamora and also claimed the life of his younger brother, André Silva, 26, who was a professional footballer for Portuguese second-division side Penafiel.
The devastating news comes just weeks after Jota married his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, in a ceremony held on June 22. The couple, who share three children, had recently shared joyful photos from their wedding on social media.
Jota enjoyed a successful 2024/2025 season, playing a key role in helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title and later contributing to Portugal’s triumph in the UEFA Nations League final in June.
The football world is mourning the sudden loss of one of its brightest talents—remembered not only for his clinical performances on the pitch but also for his humility and dedication off it.
