Otto Addo: Black Stars must stay focused in World Cup qualifiers

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says Ghana is well-placed to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but has urged his players and supporters to remain cautious and avoid complacency.
The four-time African champions currently lead Group I with 15 points after six matches in the CAF qualifiers.
They are set to regroup for their next fixtures against Chad and Mali.
Speaking to the media ahead of the doubleheader, Addo expressed optimism about the team’s chances while stressing the need for discipline and consistency.
“We are in a good situation, and I hope that we can do everything to qualify.
We have to take it step by step; we can’t make a mistake,” he said.
“A lot of people are talking about the World Cup already, but it’s still a long way.”
The Black Stars will first travel to N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning home to take on Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
As part of preparations, the team is scheduled to hold training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium today and tomorrow morning before departing for Chad.
Ghana is bidding for a fifth World Cup appearance after featuring at Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, and Qatar 2022.
