On Monday, March 17th, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, welcomed members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council and Chairpersons of the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) to his office in Accra.

The meeting primarily served as an introduction of the newly appointed Minister to the GFA and RFA members, alongside offering him best wishes in his new role.

Mr Adams took the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Kurt Okraku, President of the GFA, on his recent election to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This achievement made Mr. Okraku the sixth Ghanaian to hold such a distinguished position.

The Minister urged Mr. Okraku to leverage this honour to further the development of football in Ghana.

During his address, Mr. Adams highlighted the critical need to revitalize local football leagues, placing particular emphasis on the rejuvenation of coast football and the strengthening of grassroots initiatives.

He called on the GFA leadership to take the lead in revitalizing the domestic league, ultimately contributing to the broader growth of the sport in the country.

Additionally, the Minister encouraged the GFA leadership to engage more actively with other federations and sporting Associations within Ghana. He emphasized that this collaboration would ensure all sporting disciplines could benefit from the GFA's resources and expertise.

Reaffirming his Ministry’s commitment, Mr Adams assured the GFA of full support in enhancing the development of football in Ghana.

In response, GFA President Mr. Kurt Okraku expressed his sincere gratitude to the Minister for his support and encouragement.

He assured Mr. Adams that the GFA would work closely with his Ministry to ensure the success and growth of Ghana’s football ecosystem.

Mr. Okraku also noted that the GFA remains the most organized and structured sports federation in the country and is committed to restoring Ghana's football glory.

To solidify their commitment, Mr. Okraku presented symbolic documents detailing the GFA's strategies for addressing the challenges facing the sport. He emphasized that progress in Ghanaian football could only be achieved through collective efforts from all stakeholders involved.

Present at the meeting were senior officials from both the Ministry and the GFA, including GFA Vice President Mr. Mark Addo, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, as well as Executive Council members Nana Oduro Sarfo, Eugene Noel Nobel, Samuel Aboabire, Patrick Akoto, and Neil Amstrong Mortagbe, among others.
