Sports Minister appoints Abedi Pele to Inter-inisterial Advisory Board
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, has appointed Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele Ayew, popularly known as El Maestro, to the Inter-Ministerial Advisory Board, marking a major boost to the government’s sports development agenda.
The appointment positions Abedi Pele—one of Africa’s most celebrated footballers—to contribute his extensive experience and insight to national sports policymaking.
As a member of the Advisory Board, he will support the government on key strategic decisions, policy reforms, and long-term initiatives aimed at strengthening sports development across the country.
According to the Ministry, Abedi Pele’s inclusion reflects a renewed commitment to harnessing the expertise of distinguished Ghanaians to shape a more robust and inclusive sports sector.
His leadership, both on and off the field, is expected to bring fresh perspectives to improving infrastructure, talent development, and Ghana’s competitiveness on the global sporting stage.
The government expressed confidence that Abedi Pele’s appointment will inspire young athletes and contribute meaningfully to transformative policies that advance sports and recreation nationwide.
