Villarreal boss backs Thomas Partey ahead of champions league clash with Spurs

Villarreal manager Marcelino has expressed confidence in Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey’s readiness ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
The Spanish side travels to London for matchday one of the competition, marking Partey’s first football appearance in England since leaving Arsenal.
The 32-year-old is due back at the Old Bailey shortly after the game for a plea hearing on charges of rape and sexual assault.
Despite the legal issues surrounding him, Marcelino insists Partey remains focused and fully prepared for the fixture.
“I am totally convinced that he is mentally prepared and technically prepared to play,” the Villarreal coach said. “For sure, he will be ready.
We are very happy Thomas is with us for his football capacity, football ability and his presence as a human.”
