Haiti's gangs have 'taken a step back,' transitional leader says
In an interview with RFI, Leslie Voltaire revealed that gangs have retreated to several neighborhoods and regions, such as Delma 2 and the Artibonite region.
The architect expressed his confidence in the Haitian National Police and the multinational force that are working to "repel" the gangs.
The KPT president cited the increase of 200 new Kenyan police officers who arrived in the country at the beginning of 2025, the graduation of 739 new police officers who have come to reinforce the HNP and 1,200 soldiers on the ground, in addition to the material support he has received from the United States and France.
Leslie Voltaire declared: "I think the gangs are starting to retreat in several neighborhoods. They are attacking other areas. I think we will have better security in the metropolitan area".
The head of the KPTa, very optimistic, remains confident that the pacification of the country in 2025 is "totally possible".
