Energy Ministry partners with GCB to revamp Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, in collaboration with key stakeholders, has initiated plans to revitalise the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC) to enhance its production capacity and overall efficiency.
In a high-level meeting chaired by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, discussions were held with the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on establishing a strategic partnership to provide the necessary support for GCMC’s full-scale operations.
Jinapor highlighted the significant potential of GCMC to contribute to the local manufacturing industry and the government’s clean energy agenda.
He emphasised the need to rejuvenate the company and position it as a key player in the production of high-quality LPG cylinders for both domestic and industrial use.
To facilitate this transformation, the Minister announced the formation of a committee to develop a comprehensive roadmap for Cabinet consideration.
If approved, a Joint Project Implementation Committee—comprising representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ghana Gas, GCMC, and the Ministry of Finance—will oversee the successful execution of the revitalisation plan.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Mr Abdul-Rahman Mankir, Acting Managing Director of GCMC; Madam Judith Blay, Acting CEO of Ghana Gas; Dr Robert Lartey, Deputy CEO of Ghana Gas; Alhaj Farihan Alhassan, Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank; and officials from the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
The Ministry remains committed to strengthening local manufacturing, ensuring energy security, and promoting sustainable industrial growth in Ghana
