Kristo Asafo Mission rejects shooting claims, calls for investigation into Kwabenya incident
The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has denied reports that former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot during an incident at the church's property in Kwabenya on June 21, 2026.
In a statement, the church said the incident occurred after a lawful event held on the premises. According to the Mission, Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and drove her vehicle into the entrance gates, allegedly causing significant damage to two metallic gates.
The church stated that worshippers and invited guests were present at the time and that the incident posed a risk to people and property within the premises.
It said security personnel on duty intervened to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of those attending the event.
The Mission also addressed reports circulating on social media alleging that Adwoa Safo had been shot by her brother during the incident.
According to the statement, the organisation rejects those claims and maintains that, based on information available to it, no shooting occurred.
The church further described reports suggesting that Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury as false and misleading.
The leadership of the Mission has called on the relevant authorities to conduct a full investigation into the incident and establish the facts.
It also urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions from unverified reports and to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their investigations.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the organisation's commitment to peace, the rule of law and the safety of persons attending its events.
