Fire destroys 6-dedroom house at Aboabo, no injuries reported
A domestic fire destroyed a six-bedroom chamber-and-hall self-contained building at Aboabo near the Post Office in Kumasi on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, a distress call was received at 2:55 PM, prompting the deployment of firefighters from the Asokore Mampong Fire Station, with support from the KNUST Fire Station.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found the building fully engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control at 3:36 p.m. and completely extinguished at 4:46 PM.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
The GNFS said preliminary indications suggest the fire may have originated from a refrigerator socket. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause.
The affected building and its contents were completely destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters were, however, able to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjoining buildings on the same compound, successfully saving those structures and their contents.
