GRA launches ITAS to simplify tax compliance
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has introduced the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), a new digital platform aimed at simplifying tax compliance and modernising tax administration across the country.
The system is designed to provide taxpayers with a single point of access for a wide range of tax services, including registration, filing of returns, tax payments, accounting, refunds, and compliance management.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Anthony Kwesi Sarpong, said the platform would integrate key tax processes into a unified digital system.
According to him, ITAS will streamline taxpayer registration, returns filing, tax payments, and compliance monitoring, making it easier for individuals and businesses to fulfil their tax obligations.
He noted that the initiative is intended to provide taxpayers with a one-stop point of engagement with the Authority, reducing administrative burdens and improving efficiency in tax administration.
Mr. Sarpong explained that the digital platform forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to leverage technology to improve service delivery, enhance transparency, and strengthen revenue mobilisation.
The GRA believes the introduction of ITAS represents a major milestone in Ghana’s transition towards a modern and fully digital tax administration system.
Officials say the platform is expected to improve the overall taxpayer experience, increase voluntary compliance, and enhance the Authority’s ability to effectively manage and monitor tax obligations across the country.
