Kwame Pianim and Ishmeal Yamson join PAGE

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed veteran economist Kwame Pianim and leading private sector figure Ishmael Yamson to the reconstituted Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE), a high-level body tasked with providing strategic guidance on Ghana’s economic recovery and long-term growth.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by Presidency Communications on Thursday, January 15, 2026, as part of the government’s broader efforts to restore macroeconomic stability, ensure fiscal sustainability and promote inclusive growth under the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme.

Mr. Ishmael Yamson, a highly respected business leader and former member of PAGE, is expected to leverage his extensive experience in corporate governance, investment mobilisation and private sector development to help align government policies with enterprise growth, job creation and business expansion.

Also joining the advisory group is Mr. Kwame Pianim, an economist and private sector advocate with a strong track record in economic policy, fiscal discipline and industrial development.

Mr. Pianim, who has also previously served on PAGE, is expected to contribute significantly to the formulation of strategies aimed at structural transformation and export-led growth.

According to the terms of reference, PAGE will provide the President with independent and non-partisan advice on key economic issues, including macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability and the coordination of fiscal and monetary policies.

The group will also advise on industrial competitiveness, private sector expansion and investment attraction.

In addition, PAGE will support the design and implementation of major government initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy, conduct regular assessments of economic performance, and recommend policy adjustments where necessary.

The advisory group will report directly to the President and submit strategic briefs and advisory memoranda as required.

The inclusion of Mr. Pianim and Mr. Yamson underscores President Mahama’s intention to combine deep economic expertise with private sector leadership in navigating Ghana’s current economic challenges and positioning the country for sustainable, job-rich growth
