Prudential Bank staff stage sit-down protest over unfair salary adjustments
Staff of Prudential Bank Ghana Limited have embarked on a sit-down protest at the bank’s Head Office at Kanda in the Greater Accra Region, citing unfair salary adjustments and selective distribution of benefits under the institution’s new management.
The protest, which began earlier today, has seen employees across several departments halting operations to demand equitable pay reviews and transparent communication regarding compensation policies.
According to the aggrieved workers, recent salary adjustments have disproportionately favoured certain senior-level staff, leaving many employees dissatisfied and demotivated.
They insist that the pay structure under the new management is unfair and lacks transparency, despite earlier assurances of a comprehensive review process.
Union representatives have confirmed that management is currently in discussions with the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) to address the grievances and restore calm at the bank.
A senior union member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said workers are not against management reforms but want “fair treatment, clear communication, and equal opportunity for all staff.”
Meanwhile, bank operations at the Kanda head office have slowed considerably as staff await the outcome of the ongoing meeting between management and ICU representatives.
The Prudential Bank management is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
