V/R: NPA launches LPG safety campaign at Asogli Yam festival

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) launched a major public sensitisation campaign on the safe use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) during this year’s Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival) celebrations in Ho over the weekend.
The initiative, led by teams from the Consumer Services, Corporate Affairs, and Gas Directorates, in collaboration with the Volta Regional Office, aims to promote safety awareness and best practices in the handling and use of LPG across households and businesses in the region.
During the Grand Durbar of Chiefs and people of Asogli, NPA officials directly engaged community members, demonstrating proper LPG cylinder handling, storage, and usage techniques to reduce fire risks and promote safe energy consumption.
The Authority emphasised that the campaign forms part of its nationwide drive to enhance public education on petroleum product safety, while also encouraging the transition to cleaner energy sources.
Speaking at the event, NPA representatives reiterated the Authority’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and the environment through sustained public outreach and regulatory enforcement.
They urged Ghanaians to adhere strictly to LPG safety guidelines and to purchase gas only from licensed and certified dealers.
The campaign was warmly received by festival goers, with traditional leaders commending the NPA for combining public education with cultural celebration to reach wider audiences.
The NPA continues to reinforce its mission to regulate, oversee, and monitor Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry to ensure efficiency, safety, and stakeholder satisfaction nationwide.
