E/R: Suhum fire rescuers retrieve body of infant from toilet pit; mother arrested

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded swiftly to a distress call around 6:30 a.m. on Monday near the Gateway Preparatory School at Ali, a suburb of Suhum.
An 11-member rescue team, led by Assistant Station Officer (ASTNO) Danso Henry, arrived at the scene at approximately 6:44 a.m. and commenced a delicate rescue operation.
Sadly, at about 7:00 a.m., the team retrieved the lifeless body of a one-week-old baby boy from a toilet pit.

The infant’s body has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the arrest of the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Priscilla Owusua, at Suhum Oforikrom Ayekotse.
