Judging by his exploits for the year under review, Kojo Kinn is not surprised Stonebwoy is an MVP nominee for the 2024 3Music Awards.

However, the entertainment and media personality does not foresee a win for the Reggae/Dancehall star. At least not an easy one.

Kinn spoke to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Entertainment Capital on Accra 100.5 FM, Saturday, August 17.

“It makes sense to add Stonebwoy to the list but winning it is another conversation altogether,” the singer-songwriter said.

“He deserves to be there. He’s already won the TGMAs Artiste of the Year trophy. But will he win the same accolade at the 3Music Awards?” he asked.

Kojo Kinn observed: “Where the TGMAs goes left, the 3Music awards goes right”.

“I remember when Diana Hamilton won the ultimate at the TGMAs, 3Music Awards gave their ultimate prize to KiDi – it was as though they were avoiding being accused of replication,” he buttressed.

Kojo Kinn said in his “close examination and review, the public should not be shocked if King Promise receives” the Artiste of the Year/Most Valuable Player honour at the 3Music Awards come September 2024.

In 2021, during the premiere and topmost music awards show in Ghana, Ghana Music Awards – then sponsored by Vodafone Ghana – Highlife/Afrobeats star KiDi was the people’s favourite to win the Artiste of the Year honour but was beaten by Gospel star Diana Hamilton. Earlier, in March, at the 3Music Awards – the presumed challenger of the GMAs’ monopoly – KiDi had been crowned MVP and was expecting same at the June 2021 VGMAs.

That notwithstanding, KiDi made history winning the 3Music Awards MVP trophy a consecutive time in 2022. Since the show did not come off last year due to fiscal constraints, he has had the title for a historic two years.

At the recent GMAs, now sponsored by Telecel Ghana, the people’s favourite to win, Terminator hitmaker King Promise, was disappointed as Stonebwoy was declared the Artiste of the Year. Per Kojo Kinn’s argument, King Promise may receive his reparations at the 3Music Awards.
