Criticism on social media motivated me to work harder – Sefa
Ghanaian Afrobeats and Afropop singer Sefa, known in private life as Sefadzi Abena Amesu, has shared how a harsh comment on social media once left her deeply hurt but later motivated her to work even harder in her music career.
Speaking during an interview on Daybreak Hitz, the singer recalled a comment she once saw on Twitter that questioned her talent and the investment being made in her career.
According to Sefa, the comment suggested that her record label boss was wasting money on her and claimed she had no talent.
The remark deeply affected her because, in her view, the person making the statement had no idea about the effort and sacrifices happening behind the scenes.
The singer explained that people on social media often judge based on what they see online, without understanding the effort artists put into their craft.
Sefa said reading the comment was very disturbing at the time.
However, instead of allowing the criticism to discourage her, it became a turning point that motivated her to prove herself.
The singer noted that she began to reflect on the hard work, investment, and dedication she had already put into her craft. That moment, she said, sparked a stronger determination to push further and show critics that she is capable of achieving success in the industry.
