DKB thanks police for swift intervention, stresses Funny Face killed no one
Derick Kobina Bonney, simply called DKB, has given an update concerning Funny Face's accident last night, Sunday, March 24, 2024.
According to viral videos on social media, two eyewitnesses could be heard saying Funny Face, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, knocked down five road users with his car, including a mother and her two children and two men on motorbikes. The eyewitnesses said the older child died, and the mother's life was also in danger.
The accident happened at Kakraba Junction in Kasoa, the town within which Funny Face, born Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, lives.
DKB, in a short video posted to his Facebook, Monday, March 25, explained he "had to rush over" to the scene, "look into it and see how we can help, I can organise boys, the comedians and other celebrities, to get to the bottom of this".
He assured he had "extensively followed" the incident on the ground "and it's about 2AM, I am now going home".
The comic star gave thanks, noting were it not for the quick intervention of the Ghana Police Service, "we would have been lynched".
"And also, nobody's dead, nobody's dead," he stressed.
In another video, DKB made it clear while he does not enjoy nor condone Funny Face's "shenanigans" and does not comment on the embattled comic’s life “because of what he did to us in the past,” his current predicament was unique and begged unqualified help.
DKB beseeched, in light of “what happened to him tonight, I’m pleading with all of us to have sympathy on him” and extend a helping hand.
He specifically mentioned fellow comic stars Kalybos, Bismark the Joke, and all “Ghana comedians” to “come together and help him”.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to officially issue a statement covering Funny Face’s accident and its immediate and distant consequences thereof, however.
