Entertainment Pundit Kaakyire has argued Shatta Wale’s proposed Dancehall King title clash between him and his archrival Stonebwoy is “trivial” and “demeaning”.

“It would have been really great in terms of business, marketing and moneymaking but it’s not worth it, in my opinion,” she said.

She spoke to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital, Saturday, August 31, 2024.

“Shatta and Stonebwoy are two of the biggest artistes we have in Ghana,” Kaakyire rightly observed.

However, she maintained a clash for a Dancehall title would be “below them”.

Rather, she asserted, “they should collaborate and fill a venue like the O2 [in London] for an impactful event. They should come together and do something international to put us on the map”.

“What real profit will come of declaring either of them the Dancehall King? Someone should tell me,” Kaakyire challenged.

She saluted Shatta Wale for being business-minded but highlighted Stonebwoy had not accepted the challenge.

Furthermore, on her debut on the Entertainment Capital panel, Kaakyire expressed worry over putting the innumerable followers of both acts in the Accra/Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium given their bitter rivalry and the infamous 2019 Ghana Music Awards scene where Stonebwoy showed a gun upon Shatta Wale rushing the stage while Stonebwoy received his fifth Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year accolade.

“Regardless of Shatta Wale feeling there will be tight security, it can never be assured,” she cautioned.

Kaakyire noted how increasingly busy the police service would be ensuring peace and order from now till D-Day, December 7, in light of the keenly contested presidential and parliamentary elections.

“Why would we take all our security personnel to a stadium for the sake of an irrelevant dancehall king title clash?” she asked.

Kaakyire asserted, “The Ghana entertainment industry needs international investors and we must work to attract them – that should be our focus. So I’d want to see them on bigger international platforms doing things that will bring great profit to the local industry.”

“Whether or not you’re a Dancehall King, your fans will determine that,” she said. “And now because of social media, everyone knows who is who. They know who is relevant, consistent, etc.”
